Now you may ask, "Who are these women and why should I even trust their opinion?" Well, no worries book lovers. With no further adieu...
President--Anna
First off, Anna is the self declared/ self appointed president of the Triple B Club. Most likely, it is because she is the only one that does not have a life and can go a little overboard when it comes to some things. Lately, it seems the other members let out a sigh every time she comes up with another idea this club could do. But let us be honest, without Anna what would this club be like? (Please note this is a RHETORICAL question and really does not need an answer). Anna is a force of nature with a loud and obnoxious voice and at meetings she more than likely says something that completely makes her look like a moron. She is just so excited to be there she can barely contain herself. However, Anna loves to read all genres. Her most favorite book (series) of all time and will ALWAYS be her favorite is the Harry Potter series. She even created a sub book club entitled "The Harry Potter Book Club".
Now let's meet the other, more important, members of the club.
The Jock--Ann
Since Ann is so close to Anna (spelling wise) and, unregrettably truthful, she is the one that usually reminds Anna to lower her voice and tone it down when she gets a little, um, excited. For the first half of the year Ann was known to not finish a book but has since been motivated to step it up a tad. Now, she makes sure she is prepared to discuss and reflect. She is not afraid to speak up and disagree with anyone about anything. Sometimes I think she just disagrees to disagree. One of the things she will most likely say during book club is: "Wow, these things are going down fast!" Like she is really surprised about that...but what do you expect from a former Rugby player.
The Brain--Marisa
Marisa is the smart one even though she is too humble to admit it and will deny this. She is the thinker and can really pick apart something and make you see it from a different perspective. She is also a lawyer (non practicing) and can give good legal advice, which can come in handy sometimes. Marisa does something that Anna (and I will be honest probably Ann too) needs to learn: Thinks before she speaks! Which is a good quality to have.
The Cool One--Michelle
Michelle is just cool. She looks cool, she talks cool, she dresses cool, and just emulates "cool!" Hell, she sings in a band. She is so cool, she intimidated the president at first. President Anna--not President Obama. She even looks cool while reading. That broad has style. This coolness brings a whole different perspective to our discussions.
The Professor-- Lisa B
If you want to know whose opinion on a book to trust first, Lisa is the one. Lisa actually has a degree in English, so she knows her intertexuality when it comes to book discussions. However, she is not boring but actually witty when she adds her two cents in on a novel.
The Baker--Denise (Honorary Member- Due to Moved to FLORIDA)
When we have meetings at someone's house (instead of a restaurant) Denise can be trusted to bring in something homemade and delicious. While the majority of us pick up something store bought, she brings in something made from the heart. Her appetizers have soaked up plenty of booze in their short life. However, Denise is another one that thinks before she thinks ( I mean thinks before she speaks but it is also good that she thinks BEFORE she thinks too! Adds a little more confidence to her words) and when she offers her opinion and reflections on a book you know they will be well thought out and articulate.
The Witty One- Karen
Karen has a subtle humor that is hard to catch. Out of all the members, she is the one most likely to really enjoy Anna's ideas or else she is just really good at humoring her. She could also be called the "breeder" since she has the most kids in the group. Karen is an individual and stays true to herself--even under Triple B pressure.
The Mature One--Monique
Of course, Monique is not the mature one because she is the oldest... okay who am I kidding, she is the mature one because she IS the oldest. However, with age comes wisdom; Monique's wisdom adds depth and maturity to all our discussions.
The Whipper Snapper--Tara
As much as we hate knowing that we will always be older than Tara she is still welcomed into the club. When do you turn 30 anyway? This fresh, young perspective helps the old farts really understand some of the slang these youths use nowadays. Without her we would be lost at BAMF.
The Silent but Deadly One-- Sharon (Abandoned the club due to... I don't know why??? Why did you quit this wonderful book club Sharon???)
No, I am not liking Sharon to farts but to her way of surprising you. She looks like the average girl next door (which after reflecting that would be a better title for her but too late now) and then she gets left behind by our party bus and finds herself stuck downtown Cleveland with a $65 dollar cab ride home (OUCH!). At first you think Sharon is a sweet innocent girl but hiding in her body is a real vixen.
The Born Leader--Sandy (Honorary Member- Due to the fact she moved to TEXAS!!!)
Sandy is really the unspoken leader of the club because of her generosity and caring nature. Even though our club is a baby (1 year old) as the years go on Sandy will be the one we go to talk about serious problems. This quality brings a whole new level to our discussions.
The Mixer--Lisa D
Lisa mixes it up and brings a new perspective on every book we read. Her stories are always entertaining. However, it seems she misses TOO many meetings, which almost made me label her "the skipper". So, no more missed meetings ya hear!
The Newbie: Mariko W
Mariko is the newest member of the Triple B Club and she should feel pretty darn honoured to be finally admitted to such an exclusive club. Do you realize how hard to it to get a group of opinionated ladies to agree on anything in this club??? However, it took a year to cut through all the red tape but she was finally allowed to join the club. One good thing about Mariko--every month she reads the books. Yes, she is one of the few that consistently reads the one book you are supposed to read. But she is new and doesn't know that half the time the books aren't read. Which begs me to ask again--- How can someone be too busy to be in the Triple B Club? Hmmm..... Welcome Mariko!!!
